The Tuckahoe Tigers are 3–0 and chasing a fourth straight NVSL Division 1 title.
McLean's three-time defending champions topped Overlee 224.0–196.0 in their holiday meet on Saturday, extending their unbeaten start to the 2026 summer season. The win kept Tuckahoe in the thick of a title race that now runs through Chesterbrook, the division's current points leader.
In a Fairfax County Times feature published before the Overlee meet, co-head coach Zachary Eisig said his swimmers haven't let past success breed complacency. "We're defending three years in a row, but you can't just expect it to happen, or that's how you fall back into the old losing ways," Eisig said.
The Tigers opened the season with a 249.0–171.0 road win over Old Keene Mill on June 20, then rolled past Oakton 289.0–131.0 at home on June 27. The July 4 victory over Overlee was tighter, but Tuckahoe pulled away with a 28-point margin.
At the Divisional Relays on Wednesday, held at Chesterbrook, the host team scored 238.0 points to Tuckahoe's 190.0. That result pushed Chesterbrook's total-points tally to 1,125.0, according to NVSL standings, while Tuckahoe sits at 952.0. Overlee, now 2–1, trails at 827.5.
The 173-point gap between Chesterbrook and Tuckahoe sets up a pivotal head-to-head dual meet on July 18 at Chesterbrook. A strong showing there could reshape the standings heading into the Divisionals championship meet, which Tuckahoe will host on July 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Eisig pointed to the 11–12-year-old age groups as the team's deepest this season, noting that swimmers Riley Pelaez, Bruno Haggard, and Vittoria Passos-Androvic have stepped into larger roles. The coaching staff regularly challenges those swimmers by slotting them against the 13–14 division in practice lineups.
