Thunderstorms knocked the One Hit Wonderers off the stage on Thursday evening at McLean Central Park, but the McLean Community Center's free summer concert series picks back up next week.
The MCC posted a cancellation notice on its website Thursday, citing dangerous weather conditions for the audience, staff, performers and equipment. Dranesville District Supervisor Jimmy Bierman shared the announcement on X, directing residents to the next show.
"The community is invited to return next Thursday, July 16, for EU (Experience Unlimited)," Bierman wrote.
EU brings 'Da Butt' to McLean Central Park
EU takes the amphitheater stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16. The Washington, D.C.-based band, fronted by lead singer and bassist Gregory "Sugar Bear" Elliott, has been performing its percussion-driven go-go sound for about five decades. The group is best known for "Da Butt," the 1988 hit from Spike Lee's film School Daze that reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart. The track earned a Grammy nomination, according to the MCC.
"Experience Unlimited (EU) brings pure D.C. Go-Go energy! For over 50 years, this legendary band has kept crowds moving with their signature percussion‑driven sound," McLean Community Center writes on its website.
The show is free. No tickets or RSVPs are required.
