A 64-year-old Fair Oaks man faces second-degree murder charges after Fairfax County Police say he fatally shot his wife inside their home late Sunday night.
Leland Jameson was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony after officers found his wife, Chisen Jameson, 60, dead from gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to the Fairfax County Police Department. He is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Police received the first 911 call at 10:21 p.m. Sunday. A dispatcher heard sounds consistent with a disturbance before the line disconnected, the department said in a news release. A second 911 call came in at 10:39 p.m.
When officers arrived at the couple's home in the 12000 block of Washington Brice Road, they found Chisen Jameson inside with gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau preliminarily determined that Leland Jameson shot his wife inside the residence, according to the department. The couple was alone in the home at the time.
"The investigation is ongoing, but we do have a suspect detained, and there are no outstanding parties," Deputy Chief Brendan Hooke, commander of the Major Crimes Bureau, said at a Monday press conference.
The shooting is classified as a domestic-related homicide. Police have not publicly stated a motive. Victim specialists from the Major Crimes Bureau's Victim Services Division have been assigned to assist the family.
Detectives are still processing evidence from the scene. Anyone with information can contact Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477, online at fairfaxcrimesolvers.org, or through the P3 Tips app. Anonymous tips are eligible for cash rewards.
