McLean's football team beat Edison (0-4) by a score of 28-10 on Friday, Sept. 18, scoring twice in the first quarter and holding the Eagles to 10 points for its second consecutive victory.

Junior wide receiver Maximus Lotfi and senior Michael Sarris each caught first-quarter touchdown passes from quarterback Justin Ball to put the Highlanders up 14-0. That lead held through halftime. McLean's defense limited Edison to a single field goal through three quarters, and senior running back Chase Forde added a third-quarter touchdown to make it 21-3.

Edison scored in the fourth quarter, but McLean answered with a late touchdown to close out the 28-10 final.

"We preached toughness all week long," a McLean player identified as Martin told The Highlander, the school's student newspaper. "I feel like we played clean and disciplined football for long parts of that game."

The win gave McLean back-to-back victories after an 0-2 start that included a 15-13 loss at Chantilly on Aug. 28 and a 17-7 defeat at Washington-Liberty on Sept. 3. The Highlanders' Sept. 10 home win over Falls Church, 31-14, started the streak.

The momentum was short-lived. McLean fell 24-7 at Yorktown on Friday, Sept. 25, dropping to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in region play, according to MaxPreps. The Highlanders are 2-0 at home and 0-3 on the road.

Head coach Joe Cockerham's squad travels to Robinson on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. Three home games follow: Herndon on Oct. 9, Langley on Oct. 23 and Wakefield on Nov. 6. A road trip to George C. Marshall on Oct. 16 sits in between.
