Four McLean residents are displaced after an overnight townhouse fire in the 3000 block of Ellenwood Drive on July 6.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department crews arrived to find a working fire and began suppression operations immediately, the department said on X. All occupants had already evacuated the structure before firefighters reached the scene.

No one was injured.

The American Red Cross is assisting the four displaced residents with temporary shelter and immediate needs, according to the FCFRD post published the evening of July 6. The department described the blaze as a working fire upon arrival, indicating flames had spread beyond the room of origin and required a sustained suppression effort.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

FCFRD has not identified the specific unit involved or released a damage estimate. The department's post included video footage from the scene but did not name a spokesperson or provide additional details about the number of units dispatched.
