The McLean Volunteer Fire Department is opening its Laughlin Avenue station to blood donors on Friday, partnering with Inova Blood Donor Services for a community drive that runs from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

Dranesville District Supervisor Jimmy Bierman urged McLean and Great Falls residents to sign up, writing on X on Wednesday that "every donation makes a difference." The drive accepts whole blood donations only. Appointment slots are available starting at 3:15 p.m.; earlier times had already filled by midweek.

Patricia Moynihan, the drive's primary coordinator and president of the McLean Volunteer Fire Department, is managing logistics from the Inova Bloodmobile, which will be parked at the station at 1455 Laughlin Ave., McLean, VA 22101.

How to sign up

Residents can book an appointment at inovabloodsaves.org. New donors and guests do not need to create an Inova account; the booking page allows guest registration. Those with questions can reach Moynihan at [email protected] or 508-789-8459. Walk-in availability has not been confirmed, so appointments are recommended.

Donors should bring a valid photo ID. The Bloodmobile will be parked in the fire station lot, accessible from Laughlin Avenue.
