A Fairfax County police officer assigned to the McLean District Station faces three counts of domestic assault after an off-duty incident the night of Thursday, Oct. 15.

Brandon Moore, 35, of McLean, is a three-year department veteran. Officers responded around 9 p.m. to the 1600 block of Sunstone Drive for a report of domestic assault, according to a Fairfax County Police Department press release.

The victim reported being assaulted following a verbal argument, police said. Moore was charged with three counts of assault and battery of a family or household member. Officers investigating the call also uncovered additional reports of assault.

Detectives obtained an Emergency Substantial Risk Order (ESRO) against Moore. Virginia's red flag law allows police and courts to temporarily seize firearms. It also bars someone from purchasing or possessing guns when that person is believed to pose a danger to themselves or others. A court hearing must occur within 14 days of the order's issuance, according to Fairfax County's red flag law page.

Moore has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of criminal and administrative investigations.

"The FCPD takes all allegations of domestic violence seriously," Chief Kevin Davis said in the press release. "Help is available 24/7 through our Domestic Violence Action Center at 703-246-4573."

The arrest marks the second time in about a week that the department has investigated one of its own. As FFXnow reported, another FCPD officer faced two misdemeanor shoplifting charges in an Oct. 9 case involving two Target stores and was scheduled to retire rather than face termination.

No additional details about Moore's case have been released. The Fairfax County Domestic Violence Action Center can be reached at 703-246-4573.
